COLLECTION AND PROGRAMS

The current collection consists of over 30,000 items including adult and children's reference and circulating volumes, paperback collection, 89 periodical and newspaper titles. Audio and video titles are available in audiocassette, VHS and DVD formats.

The Library provides preschool storytime hours, summer reading programs for preschool and elementary children as well as teens, paperback books for sale. During tax season Federal and State income tax forms are available. The Library also provides copy and fax services and a Conference Room for meetings.

The reading program is during the summer from June to August, usually running 7-8 weeks. Children read a certain number of books appropriate to their grade level and receive prizes after a designated number of books are read. In August a party is held for all those children who have completed the requirements of their particular level. No more than 20 books may be taken out at any one time. Children must wait at least one day before returning the books. Only 10 books may be returned at one time. We have instituted these rules because of the volume of books used in this program. Also some of the prizes require writing titles of each book on it and this takes time. Anyone who cannot obey these rules or harasses the staff concerning these rules will be banned from the program for that year. Repeated offenders will be banned for a longer period.
